The Group is investing heavily in floating solar, a technology which makes it possible to avoid land occupancy (one of our key objectives) by installing photovoltaics on reservoirs. This solution offers various advantages: there is no great impact on the local ecosystem, evaporation is reduced in particularly drought-prone areas and, above all, additional land occupancy falls to practically zero.
Thanks to the cooling effect of the water, which optimises the functioning of the photovoltaic modules, and to an increase in reflected radiation, performance should be over 15% better than for those on land. For the production of these floating installations, Gruppo Hope is working with the University of Strathclyde, Scotland.
